Don't be fooled by the weather.

One of the things that confuses newcomers to the island is the weather.

Mt. Halla really affects the weather on the island. The difference in the weather on different parts of the island can be significant.

For example, yesterday it was overcast a little chilly in Jeju City. However, Seogwipo was quite sunny and comfortable.

More than once I have been fooled into the thinking it was going to be a clear and sunny day. Then, when I drove to another part of the island, I found myself trying to stay out of the rain.

One of my favorite pictures of Jeju is one taken from space. In the satellite picture below you can see how Mt. Halla impacts the wind and clouds.



Long ago I made it a habit to carry an umbrella or rain jacket in my car or bag, just in case the weather gods of Jeju fool me yet again.
