Is South Korea really China's bitch??

The answer is, apparently, yes.

The latest evidence comes from the Olympic Torch relay in Seoul. As usual, the response to the violence by the Chinese "students" is a source of "regret" for Seoul. Uh yeah, right. A short trip down memory lane shows the Koreans kow-towing and expressing regret any time the Chinese pass wind. I am reminded of the Korean politicians whose news conference in China was "interrupted" by Chinese police and the Korean politicians roughed up - and Seoul apologized. Then there was the "Garlic War" a couple of years ago. China farted and the Koreans rolled over like a fat cocker spaniel.

If you think I'm wrong watch the news or do your own search of Chinese-Korea incidents in the last 10 years. I think you'll see the same pattern of Korea playing the bitch to China, over and over again.

If the violence yesterday had been conducted by Southeast Asians, or heaven forbid, westerners you would have seen the Korean government and media going nuts. Now, compare that to the news story from the Korea Times about Seoul expressing "regret." What a bunch of rubbish. Because it was the Chinese, the Koreans are "hear no evil, see no evil, yada, yada, yada." Example after example shows the true nature of Koreans when dealing with their masters, the Chinese.

They bitch and complain at the U.S. and the west because the west will take it - in other words the Koreans try to bully the west because the west doesn't push back. But not the Chinese! The Chinese know, from history I guess, how to deal with Koreans. Give Koreans a taste of their own nationalistic bullshit and watch the them roll over. Pathetic. Korea is proving to be nothing more than the international version of a school yard bully. Just stand up and watch the "bully" back down like a whipped dog.

It is even more pathetic when Koreans have the gall to complain about Chinese nationalism. Hey buckwheat, have you guys looked in the mirror lately???? Talk about your out-of-countrol nationalism. Sheesh. Repeat after me Korea "Pot calling the kettle black." Hey Korea, how about the guys from your country that went to Hong Kong and the U.S. to protest - violently. Remember that?

I remember President Roh talked about Korea becoming a "balancer." I guess this really means Korea can "balance" while bent of the proverbial table taking a long one from the Chinese again, and again, and again.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the Chinese "*ahem* students yesterday apparently won't be deported - or anything done to them. There was one Chinese guy arrested for suspicion of throwing a rock (I love the way they phrased that - "suspicion."). However, he'll probably get a presidential apology and a room at the Shilla for the weekend. Don't want to piss off your masters now do you Korea. Now just go back to your fantasies of past and/or future glory and let your big brother China decide your future for you.

Another Update - Downs and Downs

I haven't been doing much on the blog lately because I have just been too darned tired. Mrs. LOJ was released from the hospital, given umpteen hundred pills that didn't farkin' work, passed out a couple of days later and is back in the hospital. WTF is wrong with the medical staff around here anyways. Is there an IQ and common sense portion of the medical exam in this country? I bet there is - and if the applicant scores too high they fail the exam.

Have you ever seen a nurse cough all over medical instruments before using them on a patient? I have within the last few days.

Have you ever seen a nurse cough and sneeze on a patient's arm - without any attempt to cover their mouth - while attempting to give an IV, and then giggle like a school girl? I have in the last few days.

I'm sorry, but why in the heck don't they teach anyone - especially someone in the medical field - in this country to cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze?

Don't even get me started on the doctors around here who think their feces doesn't produce an offensive odor. You want to see a doctor act like a spoiled child? Tell them you want a copy of your records because you want to get a second opinion. Whoa. Talk about pre-teen hormone rage!!!!

Privacy? Forget it. A doctor/nurse/janitor etc. will come into a room with 4, 5, 6 other patients and family and openly discuss your case while everyone in the room listens.

I have seen a doctor tell a patient to get out of bed and walk/stumble/almost crawl down the hospital corridor to the nurses station and make the patient STAND THERE (trying not to pass out) while the so-called medical professional tries to explain (guess) what is wrong with the patient. Why? Well that's because the nurses station is where all the newest whizz-bang audio visual stuff is. That way the doctor can stand there with one hand in his pocket and clicking a mouse with his other hand, while showing incomprehensible charts and photos to a barely conscious patient, who is working very hard trying not to fall down.
Farkin idiot.

Have you ever seen a doctor perform a colonoscopy (sp?) on a patient without anesthetic - and then proudly proclaim to the suffering patient that the doctor is saving them the 40,000 Won fee for anesthesia (sp?). I saw (and heard) that a couple of weeks ago. If you don't know what I'm talking about, take a white board marker, shove it up your butt until it is firmly lodged in your intestine and wiggle around a while. See how friggin' comfortable and pain free you are. Why wasn't there any anesthesia? Because the nurse forgot to write it on the chart beforehand and the doctor was in a hurry and didn't want to reschedule the procedure until the patient could be prepped for the procedure.

Well, anyways. I'm sure there are some good doctors and nurses out there. I just haven't run across them lately. All I seem to see is a bunch of Halla College nursing school graduates ('nuff said) and doctors that need a reality check from a team of bloodthirsty lawyers.

Like I said, I'm tired, so friggin' tired - and frustrated - and feeling helpless - and a bit scared......

More later.

Update - Ups and Downs

Well, it's been awhile since I sat down to update LOJ. Today is a holiday (Election Day, I think), so I thought I'd let my fingers do some dancin' on the ole' keyboard.

Since we last saw our superhero, he was locked in hand to computer combat producing a textbook for the school. The textbook has now been completed and totals almost 300 pages. It took a little doing, but I got the powers-that-be at the school to realize a 120 page textbook would not cut it for an entire semester - plus summer and winter "camps." The book went to be printed this week. We'll see what it looks like in a week or two. Finishing the book is a definite "Up" in my life.

A down side of the last month is that Mrs. LOJ has been suffering from a medical problem and was in the hospital for a couple of weeks. Her stay provided me an opportunity to observe the doctors and nurses in action. I've got a lot to say about what I saw - and didn't see happen. But that is for a bit later. All I'll say is this - if you look up the word "incompetence" in the dictionary, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a picture of some of the nursing staff at the local hospital.

One of the biggest "downs" for me happened yesterday. Right before my first class we were notified that one of the girls in the class was killed in a fire the night before. The girl was a real sweetheart. The kind of student a teacher remembers years after the class graduates from school. Needless to say this shook up the whole school and the first classes of the morning were cancelled to allow the girls classmates to come to terms with the reality of her death - and death in general. To make matters worse- if they could be - the girl's entire family was killed in the fire also.

If you go to E-mart in Tapdong, and look across the street, you'll see a burned-out building. That is where one of the sweetest, smartest, kindest students I ever had the pleasure to teach lost her life.

Damn.
